In defence, Blánaid and Matthew were immense, standing firm against any attack, refusing to give their opponents any easy chances. The tireless O’Loughlin brothers ran themselves into the ground, covering every metre of the pitch and driving the team forward.
Semi-Final Victory In a hard-fought semi-final, St. Eugene’s showed their resilience and skill. The O’Loughlin brothers, Séan and Barry, controlled the midfield with their relentless energy, linking play between defence and attack seamlessly. Up front, Oisín and Joshua tormented the opposition defence with their pressing and sharp finishing, securing the win and a place in the final.
Final Showdown The final was a game of heart, skill, and narrow margins. St. Eugene’s fought bravely, with goalkeeper Rex producing a series of stunning saves, including a breathtaking one-handed stop that kept his side in the contest. The hard working St. Eugene's team took the lead before being pegged back. The players battled for every ball and were unfortunate to find themselves 3-1 down. With great character they got a goal back. In the dying moments St. Eugene’s threw everything forward in search of a leveller, but despite their best efforts, time ran out on their brave challenge.
Pride in Defeat Though disappointed, the team can hold their heads high after an incredible tournament run. Their commitment, teamwork, and fighting spirit were evident throughout, and they leave the tournament with immense pride.
