Welcome to Mr McKenna's P5 Class.

A warm welcome to our Primary 5 class! The children have continued to work incredibly hard and are making great progress as we move into Term 2. This term, we will keep building on our literacy and numeracy skills while exploring new and exciting areas of the curriculum.

Our new topic, ‘It’s a Disaster’, will take us on an eye-opening journey into the world of natural and man-made disasters. From earthquakes and volcanoes to oil spills and pollution, we will investigate their causes, impacts, and how people respond to them.

In literacy, we are diving into the fantasy genre, where the children will develop their creative writing skills by crafting imaginative stories filled with magical worlds, mythical creatures, and heroic adventures.

For numeracy, we are strengthening our understanding of data handling, measurement, and problem-solving strategies, using real-world examples to bring maths to life.

In ICT, we are excited to introduce coding using Micro:bit! The children will explore the basics of programming, developing their computational thinking skills as they create and test their own digital projects.
